Brenton Strange holds a 8.6% edge in Superflex dynasty value.Updated 9/21/2026
Barner is younger and cheaper, which matters in dynasty when you’re chasing breakout probability per dollar. Seattle’s TE room is fluid enough that a single season of earning routes/snaps could put him on the weekly streaming map. If you’re taking end-of-roster shots, Barner fits the archetype of a low-cost stash whose value can spike quickly with a role change.
Strange is the more expensive asset because he’s closer to immediate usability: he has a clearer path to routes and weekly involvement in Jacksonville than most TE fliers. If the Jags’ target tree consolidates and he locks in as the primary TE, his trade value is more likely to hold or rise than a pure stash. For contenders, that slightly higher floor and near-term role clarity is often worth the ~12% premium.
Take Brenton Strange for the higher likelihood of usable snaps/targets this season, unless you need to squeeze every point of market value out of your bench.
Take AJ Barner at the discount because the age/price combo gives you better upside-per-cost and an easier flip if he flashes.
It’s close enough that I’d default to roster build: Strange if you need potential starts now, Barner if you’re hunting value spikes.
Worth more?
Brenton Strange is worth more today by market, but the gap is small enough that a single usage swing can flip it.
Trade?
If you can add a small sweetener and tier from Barner to Strange as a contender, do it; if you’re rebuilding, try to move Strange for Barner plus a 4th/FAAB-type add-on.
Superflex?
In superflex, both are still low-leverage TE bets, so prioritize the cheaper Barner unless Strange is a direct plug-in for bye weeks.
