Dynasty Startup Draft Strategy Guide 2026
A startup draft only happens once per league. Every other draft you'll ever do — rookie drafts, waiver pickups, trades — is downstream of the roster you build today. Get it right and you're competing for the next five years.
Position-by-Position Strategy
Quarterback: In Superflex, get two startable QBs before anything else. In 1QB, let QB come to you in the middle rounds.
Running Back: The aging curve hits around age 27-28. An older RB1 having a great year is a rental, not a foundation piece.
Wide Receiver: The safest place to be patient. WR careers run longer and the position is deeper.
Tight End: Either land a true difference-maker or punt the position entirely.
Round-by-Round Plan
Rounds 1-3: Elite, young WR/RB (and QB in Superflex). Rounds 4-7: Fill starting lineup. Rounds 8-12: Difference-making TE, more depth. Rounds 13-18: Rookies and breakout candidates. Rounds 19-25+: Youth and upside.
